DURMAZLAR was founded in 1956 by Ali DURMAZ. Having made its first export in 1975, Durmazlar exports 80% of its production, making Turkey's name known in 120 countries worldwide with its DURMA brand. Building its future vision on machinery and rail systems, DURMAZLAR is also the manufacturer of İPEKBÖCEĞİ, Turkey's first 100% low-floor tram brand. İpekböceği trams, manufactured by Durmazlar and used by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality for urban transportation, have been on Bursa's roads for 5 years, Greencity Light Metro vehicles for 2.5 years, and Panorama trams have been serving the public in Samsun since the beginning of October 2016 and in Kocaeli since the beginning of 2017. In January 2018, Durmazlar won the tender for the purchase of 30 trams with the first APS system in Turkey, to operate on the Eminönü – Alibeyköy line in Istanbul, and also won the tender for 6 tram vehicles opened by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality. Furthermore, by winning the tender opened by the Olsztyn municipality in Poland, Türkiye will achieve its first tram export with the contract signed in July 2018.

DURMAZLAR continues its efforts to create national brands and increase the localization rate day by day. Producing three different vehicles – the İpekböceği (Silkworm), Turkey's first 100% low-floor domestic tram, the Greencity HRS vehicle, and the Panorama tram – DURMAZLAR has emerged as a significant player in the localization of rail transport vehicles. Targeting the global market with its DURMARAY brand, Durmazlar's DURAY company, which produces and exports high-speed train bogies through collaborations, is now manufacturing bogies, vehicle bodies, and welded components for trams, light rail vehicles, and metro vehicles in its new facilities, in addition to high-speed train bogie production.
