Ego

Our organization was established on December 16, 1942, as the Ankara Electricity and Gasworks Enterprise. In 1950, with the incorporation of the Bus Services Administration, it became the Ankara Electricity, Gasworks, and Bus Services Enterprise (EGO General Directorate), providing electricity, gas (later natural gas), and bus services to Ankara. In 1982, electricity services were transferred to the Turkish Electricity Authority, and in 2007, natural gas services were transferred to Başkent Doğalgaz Dağıtım A.Ş. (Başkent Natural Gas Distribution Inc.). Today, our organization undertakes the operation of bus and rail systems (Metro) in Ankara's public transportation services, as well as transportation planning services to ensure the order and safety of the city's traffic.

EGO is a public legal entity administered under private law provisions. The company conducts its procurement of goods, services, and construction activities in accordance with Law No. 4734 on Public Procurement and Law No. 4735 on Public Procurement Contracts, and its revenue-generating activities in accordance with Law No. 2886 on State Procurement, and is therefore not subject to corporate tax.

The EGO General Directorate is accountable to the Administrative Board and the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Assembly in terms of exercising authority. Decisions and implementations made by the General Directorate are put into practice after obtaining the approval of the Administrative Board.

Today, our organization has defined its mission as providing the public transportation and transit needs of Ankara in the most reliable, fastest, most economical, most comfortable and most satisfying way, and its vision as being an institution that carries the people of Ankara through life in peace and security.
