KAAF, a member company based in Kayseri, has produced Türkiye's first domestically manufactured battery-powered shunting locomotive.

The ceremony was attended by Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Osman Boyraz, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, AYGM General Manager Dr. Yalçın Eyigün, ASPİLSAN General Manager Prof. Dr. Ahmet Turan Özdemir, TÜRASAŞ Deputy General Manager Atanur Karadağ, provincial protocol officials, and Dr. İlhami Pektaş representing the ARUS management.

All the sub-components of Türkiye's first battery-powered locomotive were designed, manufactured, tested, and commissioned by young engineers trained in this country.

All control and management algorithms for the locomotive, which has a 2,500-ton towing capacity, were written by young Turkish engineers and made precisely controllable via remote control. In particular, the braking system developed for this locomotive, one of the most critical components of railway vehicles, was also developed by KAAF.

The RE2500 Electric and Battery Shunting Locomotive is designed for use in industrial and rail logistics operations, serving warehouses, shunting yards, and industrial lines. Equipped with advanced electric drive systems and a battery, the RE2500 offers zero-emission performance, significantly reducing its environmental footprint. This locomotive is designed for heavy-duty shunting tasks, providing powerful performance with precise control to ensure smooth and reliable operation and shunting, making it an indispensable product for modern rail logistics.

Kaaf, which produced its first shunting locomotive for Seza Cement in Elazığ, is preparing to export to France, America and other European countries that have placed orders.

I congratulate the KAAF management and everyone involved, and wish them continued success.
